We have been monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation, especially in relation to our 2020 Annual Meeting April 2-4, 2020 in Rancho Mirage. In an abundance of caution for the health of our attendees and patients, we have decided cancel the conference.
This was a difficult decision, and we are deeply disappointed that the conference will not be taking place next month. We want to walk you through the reasoning behind this decision.
Why did we make this decision?
The safety of our event attendees and patients is our first priority. The coronavirus situation has been rapidly evolving. There are confirmed cases in Riverside County and other parts of the state from which our attendees would be traveling. We do not anticipate the situation improving in time for the conference.
We serve some of the most vulnerable patients who would be severely impacted if we were to spread the virus into our clinics. We want to make sure that not a single attendee is exposed to the virus as a result of coming to our conference. Further, we do not want anyone bringing the infection back to various communities and dialysis clinics across the state.
Will CDC be rescheduling the conference? The CDC board is discussing the possibility of rescheduling the conference for later in 2020. We will update you when a decision has been made by the Board of Directors.
Will we get our registration fee back?
Yes. We will provide refunds to all registered attendees within the next two to three weeks. Please do not contact the CDC office about refunds unless yours hasn't been received by March 27th.
